Art from Ashes, the award-winning nonprofit devoted to youth empowerment through creativity, invites you to celebrate National Poetry Month with an online POETRY PROWL, a poetic, photographic version of a stay-at-home-inspired scavenger(ish) hunt.

Register between any time until April 25. Choose from a list of provided prompts and activities that will encourage you to re-discover your world! Explore your home and the great outdoors for inspiration with your phone/camera, paper and pen. Your environment is your hunting ground. Have fun! Be curious! What can you "discover" that will call out your wild inner creativity?

Work solo, with a mate, or with a pride of offspring. There's no right or wrong way to do it, only creative fun! Oh yeah, and also you get stuff! You can enter to win one of several door prizes we will be giving away at a Zoom party on the 25th: entries for donating, or for tagging AfA (using #artfromashes #poetryprowl) on social media, or if you complete the list!

Donations go straight to providing our empowerment programs for youth. No pressure, though. You’re welcome to sign up without a donation. Suggested donations are $35 for a Solo Hunter, $50 for a Pair, and $75 for the Pride. As always, FREE for youth 24 and younger.

Youth are encouraged to join! Register and get a “ticket stub” by email, and if you bring it to our Wednesday poetry and spoken word workshop, you'll get a FREE writing kit. On April 25th we'll send the link so we can all get together at 3pm MST for a Zoom party. YES! Another Zoom party!! Join your fellow creative adventurers as we give out door prizes and share some of your discoveries (with your consent). AND we’ll get to hear youth poets perform! Oh, and did we mention April is the 25th annual National Poetry Month? Let's celebrate that EVERYONE IS A POET!

Here’s how you increase your chance of winning a prize at the Zoom party!

• Get 5 entries for signing up before April 2
• Get 1 entry every time you share your prompt response on any social media platform and tag us using #artfromashes #poetryprowl before April 25 (a 'like' from us is confirmation we logged your entry)
• Get 10 entries for completing all the prompts!
• Get 5 entries for completing the BONUS prompt!
• Get 10 entries for donating!

MAPPING IT OUT:

Register between now and April 25. The hunt starts April 17, so the sooner you register, the more time you'll have. 

We’ll email you the list of prompts on the 17th to guide and encourage your creative genius. You have until the 25th to complete as many of the prompts as you want.

Share your "discoveries" on any social media platform and tag us using #artfromashes #poetryprowl A 'like' from us is confirmation that you earned your prompt response entry.
