Ground Improvement for Building Support (1 PDH)

Nathan McLean, P.E., Menard

In recent years there has been a proliferation of the use of a wide variety of ground improvement techniques.  In many situations, ground improvement techniques offer cost and scheduling advantages over the conventional approaches. For this presentation, Menard will focus on the use of Controlled Modulus Columns (CMC) TM and stone columns (SCs). Case studies will be provided that show the applications of ground improvement as they relate to building support.  Case studies will include design considerations, construction techniques, challenging field conditions, and results.
