AI data centers are polluting the water we drink, the air we breathe, and degrading our communities. Hyperscale data centers are being proposed across the United States, many in densely populated areas such as New Jersey. More than 120 New Jersey municipalities have banned these centers in their communities.
ANJEC and others are advocating for State elected officials to do more to protect our natural resources and quality of life. Join us to learn more about these hyperscale data centers and what you can do to protect your town and advocate for stronger statewide policies.
Join ANJEC staff and community leaders successfully working on the ground to share current concerns on hyperscale centers, including:
· nondisclosure agreements developers are starting to request from local officials;
· energy and water use;
· and community impacts.
Learn how your town can join the other 120+ who have established strong regulations governing this new depletive industry. We'll cover how Environmental Commissions can help initiate an ordinance in their municipality.
We will take action to support communities where data centers are violating the law and harming communities.
We will also act to collectively build support for a three-year statewide moratorium on new large-scale data center approvals and construction — a pause needed to evaluate the environmental, energy, and public health risks before irreversible decisions get made.
