Hour of Action: Join the Data Center Pushback
76 Towns and Counting!
Wednesday, September 9th
Noon
Via Zoom Meeting
AI data centers are popping up across the state faster than most towns can react — draining water, straining the power grid, and reshaping overburdened neighborhoods with minimal public review or notice. Communities aren't waiting around: 76 municipalities have already passed or proposed local ordinances banning or restricting these facilities.
Join Stephen Elliott, Director of Watershed Programs at Pinelands Alliance, and ANJEC Staff to learn how your town can be next. We'll cover how Environmental Commissions can help initiate an ordinance and how to build support for Governor Sherrill's proposed three-year statewide moratorium on new large-scale data center approvals and construction — a pause needed to evaluate the environmental, energy, and public health risks before irreversible decisions get made.
