Newly signed San Francisco 49ers quarterback and former Tennessee Volunteer athlete Joshua Dobbs headlines the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kingsport Night of Champions fundraising event and awards program.

The Night of Champions will bring families, businesses, and community members together to celebrate the accomplishments of high school athletes from Northeast TN, and Southwest VA for an ESPY’s style program award program that recognizes the best athletes in the area in 10 different categories. Team and player nominations are submitted by high school Athletic Directors and Coaches and will be reviewed by a committee of professional sports writers and analysts who cover high school sports in the area. All submissions are reviewed and the top 3 athletes or teams from each award category are invited to attend the event where the winner for each category will be announced.

Dobyns-Bennett all-time leading scorer and Middle Tennessee State University all-time leader in 3-point field goals, Courtney Whitson, will host the red-carpet program where the nominated athletes and their families have opportunities to take pictures, interview with Grassroots Media, and other local media stations in the area. A formal meal will be provided to all guests before the program begins.

Kenny Hawkins, Sports Director for WJHL Channel 11 News and Co-Host of the WSXM Morning Monster sports radio show will host the event and Joshua Dobbs will speak, share his story, and offer words of encouragement to the athletes and teams and will be available for pictures and autographs for sponsors and select guests during a special reception before the event.

Tickets for the event will go on sale beginning Friday, May 10.  The proceeds raised from ticket sales and donations go directly back to the Club to be used for afterschool and summer camp scholarships for families, improvement and expansion of programs and services for the club kids, and operational costs for building maintenance projects to keep the building up to date.
