It’s becoming increasingly apparent how necessary it is to have inter-movement buy-in to create long-lasting, intersectional change that doesn't leave anyone behind. Audre Lorde said it best: “There is no such thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives.” Environmental movement spaces, especially in Maine, have historically often been dominated by people with privilege. We want to invite people from the climate justice movement to learn about the work of other movements for justice and find synergies in our collective visions. We’ll be joined by advocates from the movements for migrant and racial justice, LGBTQ+ rights, and gender justice, including Ava Baeza from Presente! Maine, Heide Lester from EqualityMaine, as well as someone from MaineTransNet and from the Maine Immigrants' Rights Coalition.
