ABOUT COLT COEUR

Colt Coeur is a not-for-profit theatre company that creates, develops and produces bold new plays that are intimate and visceral. Recent highlights include Still, Eureka Day, and Dry Land. Our community of artists nurtures and invests in diverse perspectives to produce work that challenges the boundaries between tradition and experimentation. Colt Coeur embraces the ambivalence, terror and exhilaration of our time with theatre that is an antidote to the pervasive cultural illness of loneliness. The company explores themes of coming-of-age, individual and collective identity, nostalgia and history, public versus private, love, lust, and loss. Colt Coeur provides access, education and a professional pipeline, while amplifying voices and perspectives that have historically been sidelined.

ABOUT OUR HONOREES

Juliana Canfield and Adrienne first collaborated at Williamstown Theatre Festival in 2015, where Adrienne directed Juliana in Laura Jacqmin's Dental Society Midwinter Meeting (and which they are still conspiring to bring to NYC!). Juliana then helped develop the role of Woman in Colt Coeur's world premiere of Zürich by Amelia Roper, directed by Adrienne, and was part of the starry 10-person cast which included Paul Wesley, Austin Smith, and Gregory Diaz IV in the 2018 production at New York Theatre Workshop. Juliana is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama and is best known for her role as Jess on "Succession" and as Holly in David Adjmi's Tony Award-winning Stereophonic (Broadway). Currently, in between Vogue shoots and awards luncheons, Juliana is serving as a Mentor in Colt Coeur's Mentorship program.

Deborah "Debbie" DeCotis is a trailblazing international financier and has been a longtime fan and supporter of Colt Coeur, dating back to the world premiere of Dry Land, in 2014. Ms. DeCotis hosted a spectacular event for Still’s launch this past March and has a a deep love and enthusiasm for the arts.  DeCotis has over 45 years of financial, advisory and business operations experience with a successful track record of leadership across multiple global institutions and industries, and was one of the first women Directors at Morgan Stanley.

RECENT COCO HIGHLIGHTS

• Produced one world premiere and one NY premiere in our 2023-24 Season: Bite Me by Eliana Pipes, directed by Rebecca Martínez; and Still by Lia Romeo, directed by Adrienne Campbell-Holt.

• Collaborated with griot Alim Kamara on the developmental workshop of minor.ity by Francisca Da Silveira, directed by Shariffa Ali.

• Produced our 15th Annual Education Initiative, a free 5-day workshop where NYC public school students work with professional actors, playwrights, directors and designers to conceive and create original short plays that highlight their creativity, and uplift their stories. 

• Spent the year in community and creativity with our 2023-24 Resident Artists: Jose Sebastian Alberdi, Brittany K. Allen, Sarah Dahnke, C.A. Johnson, Eric Norbury, Lia Romeo, Danny Tejera, and Liba Vaynberg. This program provides artistic, administrative and financial support to these talented artists during a year-long residency. 

• Commissioned a new play by CoCo company member Sarah Sander.
