For over 26 years Dancing Classrooms has partnered with schools and community-based organizations to cultivate essential life skills in children through the joyful art and practice of social dance. To date we have served over 600,000 young people worldwide, developing respect, self-confidence, collaboration, and cultural competency in a wide range of international dance forms -- merengue, rumba, waltz,  swing, foxtrot, and....TANGO!

Join us for an intimate virtual celebration of some of our favorite pairs: wine and tapas, music and dancing, Dancing Classrooms and YOU. 


The evening will be hosted by musician, composer, dancer, choreographer and Dancing Classrooms Alumni Dwayne Beach and will feature an Argentine wine tasting with wine educator Alicia Barrett, cooking demonstration by proprietor and executive chef of Kings' Carriage House RestaurantElizabeth King, a Tango mini-lesson by tango master Dardo Galletto, and conversation with Dancing Classrooms Senior Teaching Artists about the power of tango and social dance to inspire students of all ages. About Our Evening's Special Guests: 

Alicia Barrett (Wine Educator) fell in love with wine after a trip to Burgundy, a place she still feels is heaven on earth. She began her wine education at the Wine and Spirit Education Trust’s global headquarters in London where she completed her WSET Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3. Alicia is now awaiting results for her WSET Diploma, a lengthy and challenging certification held by just over 10,000 individuals worldwide. Alicia now lives in Chicago and is the Wine Educator for Binny’s Beverage Depot, the Midwest's largest wine and spirits retailer. Alicia also teaches for the American Wine School, acts as the Chicago Educator for the U.S. Champagne Bureau, and conducts monthly wine tastings for the Alliance Française de Chicago. Most recently, she has launched her own virtual tasting and wine education company, Grape to Glass.

Dwayne Beach (Emcee) is a violist, violinist, composer, dancer and Dancing Classrooms Alumni. He spent the bulk of 2019 creating original compositions that explore movement with sound. He has been working with Yamini Kalluri, an acclaimed Kuchipudi Indian classical dance expert, together they have been touring with their composition titled “East Meets West.” stateside and abroad. "Shoo False Love, I Fear Not!" 2018 was his first solo EP project consisting of 5 songs for voice and strings that he composed,self produced and choreographed. As a co-founder a duo called The F-Tones they released their first album called "Sketches," 2018 a fusion album of classical, Gypsy jazz, and pop originals scores for guitar and violin. In Addition he played with international ensembles like Asian Cultural Symphony of New York ’15-18, One World Symphony ‘11-13 and Sarajevska Filharmonija ‘17-20 as Principal Violist at various points in their seasons. He also worked locally as a conductor for Noel Pointer String Players ‘18-20 performing through the Tri-state region of NYC. Dardo Galletto (Tango Master) is from Cordoba, Argentina, where he began acting a the age of 12. Originally studying dance as a supplement to his acting, he gradually recognized it as his true passion and began to train intensively. Dardo graduated from a 3-year program at the prestigious school of dance, “Teatro General San Martín” in Buenos Aires, studying ballet, modern jazz and composition. He also studied at the “Teatro Colón” and coached with leading ballet masters of Argentina including Haichi Acamine, Enrique Lommi and Olga Ferri. After graduation, Dardo was invited to become a member of the world-renowed “Ballet Argentino”, directed by Julio Bocca, and toured with the company for one year. In late 2001, Dardo moved to New York City, and began performing with a number of U.S. modern and ballet companies. Dardo is currently one of New York’s leading tango dancers and has created a unique method for teaching tango technique, combining elements of different dance disciplines and emphasizing the understanding of energy flow. Elizabeth King (Chef and Hospitality Educator) is proprietor and executive chef of Kings’ Carriage House Restaurant which Zagat calls “an enchanting… perfect hideaway with impeccable service… fit for aristocrats”.
