Join the D.C. Policy Center in-person on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 9:30 AM at MLK Library's 5th floor auditorium for the release of our sixth annual State of D.C. Schools report. The event will begin at 9:30 AM with coffee and networking. The report presents a systemwide overview of public education in the District of Columbia. State of D.C. Schools, 2023-24 focuses on the role of school in the lives of District stakeholders, with a focus on learning outcomes, attendance challenges, and more. 

 

The event will begin at 9:30 AM with coffee and networking, with the program starting at 10 AM. Dr. Antoinette Mitchell, Interim Superintendent at the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), will provide opening remarks. Following a report overview, an expert panel will discuss the findings. Panelists include Raymond Weeden, Executive Director of Thurgood Marshall Academy Public Charter High School; Katreena Shelby, Principal of Kramer Middle School; Dominique Moore, DC PAVE Parent Leaders in Education Board Member; Dr. Reuben Jacobson, Director of Education Policy and Leadership at American University; and Elizabeth Ross, Assistant Superintendent at OSSE. Calique Barnes, Student Representative to the DC State Board of Education (DC SBOE) will close out the event.
