Join the Center for Washington Area Studies and the D.C. Policy Center for a timely, data-driven discussion on the District of Columbia and the Capital Region, including insights from the 2026 State of the Capital region report

The event will feature two short presentations—by Daniel Burge (D.C. Policy Center) and Leah Brooks (Center for Washington Area Studies)— highlighting key economic trends in the District of Columbia and the Capital Region in the past year. Special attention will be paid to employment trends and the loss of federal government jobs.

Following the presentations, we are pleased to host an expert panel, moderated by The Washington Post's Federica Cocco:

  • Fitzroy Lee, Deputy Chief Financial Officer and Chief Economist for the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) of the District of Columbia
  • Nathan Edwards, Sr. Director, Washington, D.C. Metro Research at Cushman & Wakefield
