Deseret Experimental Opera premieres a brand new rock opera, “Life Relegated” on May 16-19, 2019 at the Downtown Gateway. Attendees will be guided on a tour of the national parks of southern Utah, played by five local bands – each one representing a different national park.
With original libretto and lyrics by Jacob Rosenzweig, “Life Relegated” will be an opportunity for audience members to learn more about the personal lives of the great parks in our state, following their struggles to make ends meet after funding for public lands has been cut!
This production will be a rock show for the ages, with a cast of over two dozen musicians and dancers performing in large scale, multi-person costumes of Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, Arches, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Parks.
The rock bands featured in “Life Relegated” include It Foot Ears, Durian Durian, Wallfly, 8eaut1ful5, and Millennial Homeowners. Dance will be choreographed and performed by Porridge for Goldilocks, Emma Wilson, Meagan Bertelsen, Carly Schaub, Allison Shir, Emma Sargent, and Peter Larsen.
