Why Dahlias? Dewey Hall is having our first ever Dahlia Festival on September 17, 2023. A judged Dahlia contest, flower bar, flower crown making, flower arranging, and more festivities to be announced. We are partnering with Tiny Hearts Farm to offer a Dahlia growing workshop on May 23 – an opportunity to get a step ahead in the Dahlia competition. Don’t miss this chance to get an edge on your growing this season and be ready to enter and/or join in the fun in September.

Dahlias, in all their lush and brilliant beauty, are a Tiny Hearts Farm staple in the late summer and fall. The amazing array of available colors, shapes, and sizes make them a garden necessity and perfect for flower arranging. With a little know-how, these floral gems are easy to grow and maintain – just let us teach you how! Jenny, THF head farmer and dahlia fanatic, will take you through the growing process, including choosing and planting tubers, feeding, pinching, staking, harvest and vase life tricks, and fall digging and storage. A wide variety of our favorite, farm-grown dahlia tubers will be for sale at the flower shop the day of the workshop!
