Welcome to the EduCom Volunteer and Adventure retreat, where you will embark on
a 10-day journey through the vibrant culture, stunning nature, and thrilling
adventure of Ghana. Our carefully crafted itinerary is designed to give you an
unforgettable experience that combines exploration, learning, and fun.
This retreat will not only deepen your understanding of Ghana and its people,
but also inspire you to become more effective advocates for education and
positive change in your own communities.
ITINERARY
Day 1 - Accra City Tour: Begin your adventure with a city tour of Accra,
where you'll visit historical landmarks like the W.E.B Du-Bois Center,
Independence Square, and James Town. You'll also get to try your hand at
drumming and explore the National Museum, before enjoying a delicious lunch at
the famous Buka restaurant.
Day 2 - Eastern Tour: Get ready to be mesmerized by the beauty of the Asenema Waterfalls and experience the thrill of a Safari adventure at the Safari Valley Resort. You'll return to Accra with unforgettable memories of the day's adventure.
Day 3-4 - Central Tour: You'll embark on a two-day adventure to explore the Central Region of Ghana. Your first stop will be at the Kakum National Park, where you'll take a guided walk on the Canopy Walkway and discover the tropical rainforest. You'll then check into the Ridge Royal Hotel for a comfortable overnight stay and a delicious lunch. The following day, you'll visit the Cape Coast Castle, Anomabo Memorial Park, and enjoy a mouth-watering lunch at Kokodu restaurant before retiring for the night at your Accra hotel.
Day 5-6 - Volta Tour: Join the adventure team at The Trident and experience the thrill of hiking, abseiling, paintball, kayaking, and capsizing in the Volta region. After lunch at the Bridgeview Resort, you'll check into the serene Volta Serene Hotel and visit Amedzofe, where you'll climb Mount Gemi, visit the Ote Waterfalls and enjoy the Canopy Walkway. You'll return to the hotel to relax and rejuvenate.
Day 7 - Return to Accra: Bid farewell to the beautiful Volta region and return to Accra to enjoy a relaxing day at the Labadi Beach. You'll have the option to participate in beach volleyball, jet skiing, and banana boating, or simply relax and soak in the sun. You'll enjoy a delicious lunch at the Labadi Beach Hotel.
Day 8 - Cultural Tour: Explore the rich cultural heritage of the Ashanti Kingdom in Kumasi, where you'll visit the Manhyia Palace, Okomfo Anokye Sword, National Cultural Center, and Kejetia Market. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant, where you can indulge in the local cuisine.
Day 9 - Farewell Dinner: Enjoy an evening at the Bosphorus Restaurant for a farewell dinner, where you'll be entertained by live traditional Ghanaian music and dance performances. It's a perfect way to wrap up your EduCom Volunteering Adventure Retreat experience.
Departure Day: We will provide transportation to the airport for your departure, with memories and experiences that will last a lifetime.

What's Required to Travel to Ghana?
A valid passport with at least 6 months of validity remaining on date of departure.
Yellow Fever vaccination with proof via Yellow card - cost varies based on vaccine location and medical insurance
An approved visa from Ghana (please contact your local embassy for applications/requirements) - cost ranges $60 - $200
EduCom is requiring all participants to purchase individual travel insurance to protect their trip costs and money spent from unforeseen events before and during the trip - cost varies based on travel insurance provider.
