EV West, in collaboration with the Electric Vehicle Learning Center (EVLC), presents a revised Three-Day EV Conversion Workshop focused exclusively on NetGain Hyper 9 drivetrain conversions. This intensive course is designed for builders, fabricators, and enthusiasts seeking practical, real-world experience with modern EV systems. Held on October 21-23 at the EVLC and EV West facilities, the workshop runs daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is led by Michael Bream and Mark Weller of EV West, alongside experienced guest instructors. The curriculum emphasizes professional conversion practices, system integration, and high-voltage safety, using the same approaches applied in active EV West builds.

Students will assemble a running Hyper 9 system over the course of the class, working hands-on with real drivetrain components from start to finish. Instruction covers motor mounting, inverter setup, CAN network communication, charging systems, diagnostics, and both high- and low-voltage wiring. Programming and configuration are completed using industry-standard tools, giving participants direct exposure to the software and workflows required for a successful Hyper 9-based conversion. The open, bench-based format allows complex systems to be clearly understood, tested, and validated in real time.

The course is centered around the EV West Trainer Cart, a purpose-built learning platform that replicates a complete Hyper 9 conversion without the limitations of a vehicle chassis. Every major subsystem is fully accessible and visible, allowing students to trace connections, verify layouts, and understand how each component interacts within the system. Participants actively take part in building and commissioning the cart, gaining hands-on experience that translates directly to their own projects. Attendees must bring a laptop for programming exercises and arrive prepared for shop work, including closed-toe shoes and appropriate attire.

We are also offering an additional advanced diagnostics class on the 24th of October. You may register for that class here:

No refunds are available. This class will not cover Tesla drive systems. There is a class for that offered here:
