Let EWDC help you “unWined” from your day with a virtual wine tasting experience!

On Thursday, October 22, from 6-7pm, enjoy a special 60-minute Zoom happy hour wine tasting experience, led by our award-winning partners Barrel & Oak Winery. Follow along at your own pace to experience the richness of hand picked wines selected by Barrel & Oak Winery. Feel free to continue the experience on your own with friends once the happy hour has ended!

During the tasting, our expert wine team explains the what’s, where’s, when’s, and how’s with regard to the wine, including fun tidbits such as:

  • How to read a wine label
  • How to properly store wine
  • The wine tasting method
  • Food and wine pairing basics
  • How to tell what wines are best for aging
  • How to properly select wines as gifts

and so much more…!

In true wine tasting fashion, we realize that you're getting a lot more than just a few sips, so we encourage you to invite friends over for a socially distanced night. And don't worry, we will also share tips for preserving your wine in case you don't want to go all out that evening!

Deadline to purchase an UnWined ticket is October 10, 2020. This will give us time to ensure your wine package arrives in time for the event.

Proceeds

A portion of the proceeds from the event will support EWDC’s shared reading programs for the 2020-2021 school year, including one-on-one reading-based mentoring, small group read-alouds, family workshops, and free book distributions to families across the Washington, DC region.

PLEASE NOTE: Orders can only be shipped to the following areas: Washington, DC, West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina. Barrel & Oak does not ship to Maryland. Maryland residents who wish to purchase a ticket can arrange to pick up their package from the EWDC office in October.

About Everybody Wins DC

Everybody Wins DC helps children thrive by building connections through reading.

The idea behind our mission is simple and straightforward: by giving a child the opportunity to share a joyful reading experience with someone who cares, we can change that child’s life for the better.

But it isn’t just the children who benefit. When we all connect over books, everybody’s lives get better – everybody wins!

Donations

Many of you have asked to make donations to EWDC during this time.  We are deeply touched and grateful for your generosity. For those of you who are asking to do more, a great way to support us in general is to donate a book or make a donation. No amount is too small, as it helps us provide critical services who are at an academic disadvantage because of school closures.
