On September 5, 2020, we will be celebrating our 10th Anniversary through a virtual gala, Bayanihan: 10 Years of Justice, Struggle, and Solidarity. In the Filipino culture, “Bayanihan” refers to the spirit of the community uniting and working together to accomplish a common goal. This has been exemplified through serving and organizing low-income Filipino workers, youth, and families to create systemic change in our community.
Event tickets are on a sliding scale from $25 - $75. You also have the option to donate a ticket to a community member in need!

In addition to all of the victories and highlights from the last decade, the Filipino Migrant Center (FMC) expanded our services in April 2020 to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was done through working with the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns (NAFCON) to form multiple Bayanihan Community Response networks across Southern California. Through this collaboration, we have:

Recruited over 75 volunteers to assist with a variety of community relief efforts

Partnered with Bebot Filipino Restaurant to serve over 2,125 hot meals to community members

Fundraised over $15,000 to provide direct financial assistance to Filipino families in need

Partnered with Romeo Chocolates and Island Pacific Supermarket to provide groceries to over 50 families for three consecutive weeks

Held community resource calls for over 250 people and provided Know Your Rights education for workers, mental health support, and how to access economic relief assistance

Provided ongoing moral and social support for Filipino senior citizens impacted by the pandemic
