Want to know more about the trees in your neighborhood? Want the benefits of healthy trees in your community, for your community? Become a Tree Tender! 

Tree Tenders is a course from Tree Pittsburgh that teaches about trees in urban or built-up environments - collectively termed the urban forest. Specifically, our curriculum covers tree biology & benefits, tree identification for beginners, tree planting, tree care, including pruning, and how to get involved in efforts to protect and grow your patch of the urban forest.  

This course will be held on Saturday March 9, 9am to 3pm.  Course format includes indoor and outdoor instruction (weather permitting), with the majority of time spent indoors, and regular breaks. Hot beverages, snacks and pizza lunch will be provided. 

We are delighted to partner with Upstream Pgh for this training in the Nine Mile Run Watershed. Upstream will highlight a green infrastructure project as an example of their extensive stormwater management efforts in the Watershed. We also express thanks to our hosts, the Covenant Fellowship Reformed Church in Wilkinsburg. All are welcome to attend, and we offer a special community training sliding scale rate for this particular course. Registration is essential. 

Please note that this course is not appropriate for participants under 16 years of age.
