GNSO in HARMONY

Bringing Community Together Through Music!

Join us for The Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra's (GNSO) annual Gala, GNSO in Harmony, an evening dedicated to celebrating the transformative power of music and honoring outstanding individuals and partners whose leadership strengthens the cultural and civic fabric of the region.

This year’s Gala will recognize Gregory Phillips, Gordon Shacklett, and Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall for their exceptional commitment to the arts, community engagement, and service to the Greater Newburgh area. Their contributions reflect a shared belief that vibrant communities are built through both cultural enrichment and compassionate leadership.

What began in 1995 as a vision to establish Newburgh as a true cultural center has grown into a dynamic orchestra known for artistic excellence, meaningful community connection, and innovative programming.

“The Gala is a celebration not only of the Orchestra, but of the community that sustains it,” said Bob McCurdy, President of the Board of Directors. “We are honored to recognize individuals and organizations whose work reflects the same commitment to enriching lives that defines our mission.”

A particularly meaningful part of the GNSO’s history is the longstanding involvement of Gregory Phillips and Gordon Shacklett, who have been affiliated with the Orchestra for more than 30 years. Both as musicians, they have contributed their artistry on and off stage season after season, helping to shape the sound and spirit of the ensemble.

The evening will feature live music, light cocktail fare, a special raffle, and opportunities to connect with fellow supporters of the arts. Proceeds from the Gala directly support the GNSO’s concert season, educational outreach, and efforts to make live orchestral music accessible to all.

The GNSO’s mission extends beyond performance, embracing the role music plays in health and well-being. Alongside community institutions such as Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall, the Orchestra contributes to a broader vision of a healthy, connected community where the arts and wellness go hand in hand.

We invite you to be part of this meaningful evening in harmony.
