Guerilla Opera’s awesome new annual fundraiser to support rebellious works of opera theater.

This "anti-gala" boasts complementary, catering, an open bar, backyard games, and raffle prizes to welcome the summer!

Our programs span professional opera productions, studio albums, virtual streaming events and festivals, and professional education programs for artists.

Our strongest values are collaboration and authenticity, with a dedication to culturally centered stories that resonate with the voices of contemporary society.

You are the integral ingredient that allows us to root more in the art we create and support the community our mission and vision strongly serve.

This new annual fundraiser supports our local community of artists and arts lovers! Your generous support and attendance allow us to:

  • Develop and produce new experimental operas in outstanding live productions, studio albums, experimental films, virtual performance festivals, and other streaming events.

  • Organize community events and gatherings like listening experiences with the Perkins Braille and Talking Book Library, “Opera Talks”, and other community series.

  • Offer professional development opportunities for opera creators like the Libretto Lab and Guerilla Writer Collective.

With you by our side, we can support our community better through:

  • appropriate wages for our staff, who are all working artists

  • sponsoring the continued education of our artist-led staff and board

  • scholarships to attend our educational programs

  • expanded programs to meet the needs of today’s opera creators

  • benefits to artists, such as meals, travel stipends, and childcare

WHO ARE WE?

Guerilla Opera is a “punk” ensemble that embodies art that emerges from those who challenge the status quo. We are a BIPOC-led and feminist organization, Boston's only experimental chamber opera ensemble, and one of a few in the world with an exclusive mission to present new experimental works of opera theater.

Our community includes:

  • opera creators, composers and librettists who create bold new works, daring artists
  • performers and production teams, singers and instrumentalists, dancers, and actors who bring these works to life and create our core ensemble
  • staff, boards, and committees, a diverse group of artists, producers, movers and shakers, who strive for excellence and further our mission, and

  • YOU, our audiences who love new works and who hunger for new experiences.

For us, “opera” is any work where the music acts as the catalyst for the drama and action of a story. By examining this definition, we go to unexpected realms and have garnered a national reputation for innovation with Opera News raving that “Guerilla Opera redefines the Opera experience.”
