Diwali Carnival will be held on Oct 20th, 2024, between 12:00 - 3:30 PM at Vihar Hall, Hindu Center of Charlotte. Please select 1 or more activities that you or your family would like to participate in. All entries will be placed in the first come first serve sequence. Please report 15 mins ahead of competition start time to ensure timely execution of the event. 

Guidelines/Rules for all the competitions can be found below....

Thali Decor Competition:

1. This is an adult only competition
2. Participants need to bring the decorated Thali from home for submission 
3. Thali to be used for decoration should be between 10-14 inches.
4. Any store-bought decorated Thali's will be disqualified
5. Thalis will be judged based on its creative design, neatness & usability for festive celebrations

Rangoli Decor Competition:

1. This is an adult only on the spot competition 
2. Participants need to bring their own Rangoli supplies
3. Participants will be provided with the tables to decorate the rangolis
4. Rangolis will be judged based on its creative design & neatness

Kolka Design Competition:

1. This is an adult only - on the spot competition 
2. Volunteer will be provided to apply Kolka or feel free to bring your own volunteer
3. Only red & white color could be used. Acrylic or skin safe paint is fine. Participants need to bring their own paint
4. Kolka design will be judged based on its creative design & neatness

Fireless Cooking Competition:

1. This is an on-the-spot dessert cooking competition
2. Participants need to prepare the dish on the spot with the given ingredients and submit in time for the scoring. There will be variety of ready to use options to choose from and come up with a creative dish of your own.
3. Competition categories are:- 12-18 year and 18+ years
4. Ingredients will be provided for flameless dessert preparation
5. Disposable preparation and plating utensils will be provided 
6. Dishes will be judged based on their presentation, taste and creativity

Kid's Storytelling Competition:

1. This is an on-the-spot competition
2. Competition categories are: 5-8 Years , 9-13 Years, 14-17 Years
3. Kids will be given the clues for making up their own stories. 
4. Participants can either write the story under 30 minutes and recite (Under 3 minutes) to the audience and judges for scoring
5. Stories would be judged on the creative plot chosen and interesting beginning, middle, and end
