Come witness Hivewild's latest work, with your sweet fragrance: afterlife, hosted in partnership with Pancho’s Garden. The work explores what happens “after”: after crisis, after repair, after death, and after rebirth. Audiences are invited to wander the garden alongside the dancers, consider their relation to the natural world, and reflect on how they engage with it.

This performance follows the mainstage premiere of with your sweet fragrance at New York Live Arts in September 2025, which explores human relationship and power dynamics within the context of the climate crisis. ABOUT

Founded in 2016 by Artistic Director Katherine Maxwell, Hivewild is a contemporary movement platform based on the unceded land of the Lenapehoking People (Brooklyn, NY). Hivewild is dedicated to the presentation of formal, site-specific, and public works that ignite conversation and unlock emotion, rooted in the principles of radical inclusion and lifelong curiosity. Endemic to each Hivewild work, and the processes that create them, are strong senses of dignity, interconnectivity, and playfulness. Hivewild is an invitation to experience, feel, and be - embodying a broader bandwidth of what it means to be alive. Members of Hivewild seek to invest in their communities by actively engaging in cross-disciplinary collaboration and skill-sharing. Every human has a body, and the artists use this understanding as a starting point to identify connections and celebrate differences between people. Hivewild aims to use accessible performance work to engage a variety of viewers: artists, art enthusiasts, and those who have yet to experience contemporary dance work. @hivewild

Pancho’s Garden

The Lower East Side of the 1970s was a hard place with little green. Local residents noticed the abandoned, littered lot at the corner of Ninth Street and Avenue C, and began to sow seeds and plants along the chain link and among the debris, and so the Ninth Street Community Garden & Park was founded in 1979. Today, Pancho’s Garden hosts community events including music, arts, and gardening workshops. The garden is half an acre of gorgeous flowerbeds and vegetable gardens. Meandering pathways crisscross the park, follow them to the koi and turtle pond, fig arbor, or one of many quiet nooks that offer a cool quiet spot to read a book, have a chat with a friend, enjoy a cup of coffee, or just sit and enjoy a respite from The City.
