You’re invited to a Hoboken Historical Museum-specific Mile Square Conversation!

The Mile Square Conversation is a simple, delightful, and lightly facilitated community connection program. Longtime museum member Thaler Pekar applies her story and conversation facilitation expertise to gather neighbors, invite them to respond to a single question about their experience in Hoboken, and listen to each other. 

This gathering celebrates the Museum's current exhibition, What They Saw: Hoboken's Amateur Photography Clubs 1889-1934. Please bring a photo that somehow demonstrates what our varied and vibrant city means to you. (It can be on your phone.) 

And invite your friends to attend and bring a photo, too! We're aiming to gather a geographically, generationally, and culturally representative group of neighbors who care deeply about the people and places of Hoboken.

About the Exhibition

What They Saw: Hoboken’s Amateur Photography Clubs 1889–1934 features rare enlarged prints created from original glass negatives in the collections of the Hoboken Historical Museum and Hoboken Public Library. Through the work of Hoboken’s early amateur photographers, visitors can explore the city’s waterfront, social life, architecture, industries, and changing streetscape during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
