Building upon our Community Resilience Training seminars at the end of 2020, this 3-hour training delves deeper into mental health-psychosocial components of strengthening resilience in times of crisis. Special emphasis will be placed on cultivating participants’ growth mindset, helping them to expand their skills-based knowledge and access the tools necessary to support themselves and their community during the ongoing pandemic and beyond.
The virtual training seminar, broken into two 1.5-hour sessions, is scheduled for Monday, June 21 and Wednesday, June 23 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 p.m PST. via Zoom. We have limited slots available, please register by Monday June 14, 2021. *Webinar access link will be provided via email.

Avital Furlager
Avital Furlager is a psychotherapist and dance and movement therapist specializing in trauma work with children, adults and families. She serves as the Protection Coordinator at IsraAID, and teaches at the University of Haifa and Shiluv Psychotherapy Center. Avital began her work with the refugee community as a mental health clinician at the International FACES refugee clinic in Chicago, IL. With IsraAID, Avital has created and supported the implementation of psychosocial programming in Kenya, Greece, Colombia and several other countries.
Yahel Shemesh
Yahel has degrees in social work from Ben Gurion University and Tel Aviv University, and extensive experience working with youth at-risk in Israel, specializing in providing psychotherapy for child survivors of violence and sexual abuse. She first started at IsraAID as part of the emergency response team deployed to Nepal following the 2015 earthquake, subsequently working in South Sudan as a child protection consultant. In her role at IsraAID, Yahel oversees the sector’s strategy, training programs, and content development, and supervises protection programs.
