Join us for a conversation and workshop about the poetic line! During our time together we’ll discuss that various utilities of the line and lineation (musicality, pacing, visual joy, etc.), looking at different examples from multiple poets while using our own work, to investigate how to make use of what is truly the building block of poetry. In addition to glossing the line’s historical use, we’ll traverse the possibilities and uses of experimentation to create new experiences that surprise, establish patterns that are effectively broken to across time and space, and create a textured reading experience. Through the line we’ll better understand the tensions between content and form, and see all of our poems from new angles. Bring some of your own work that feels stuck, and we’ll use the line to make it feel more alive.
