Why it matters
Right now, 1 in 8 adults and 1 in 6 children in Kansas City face food insecurity. Proceeds from Gardens at Sunset support KCCG’s mission to make gardening accessible for everyone-providing low-cost seeds, plants, tilling, supplies, garden plots, and free education for families, schools, and communities across the metro. We could not do it without you!
Ticket includes admission to the event, an elegant picnic dinner, and beverages.
Proceeds benefit KCCG's mission to inspire and empower low-income households, community groups and schools to grow their own fruit and vegetables.
Nothing captures the triumphant joy of biting into a crisp, sweet watermelon that you nurtured from seed to a prize-worthy giant. A gift of $50,000 celebrates this journey—from first sprout to abundant harvest—ensuring gardeners have the resources they need to grow with pride, nourish their communities, and revel in the simple joys of cultivating fresh, healthy food.
Benefits: all the advantages of a Tomato sponsor plus
Few things compare with the taste of a juicy, vine-ripened tomato on a hot summer day. KCCG’s greenhouse cultivates more than 26,000 tomato seedlings each year – enough to grow over half a million dollars’ worth of produce! A leadership gift of $25,000 provides sustaining support for our greenhouse operations, enabling us to subsidize the costs of plants for low-income members.
Benefits: all the advantages of a Sweet Potato sponsor plus
Sweet potatoes pack a powerful nutritional punch and are a staple crop at many community gardens. KCCG supplies gardeners with 18,000 sweet potato plants each year – enough for a harvest of 72,000 pounds! A gift of $10,000 supports the annual cost of operating one of KCCG’s large rental plot gardens, providing fertile growing space for sweet potatoes and more.
