THE FOURTEENTH ANNUAL FERIA DEL MOLE

Universidad Popular will host the Fourteenth Annual La Feria del Mole at Universidad Popular 2801 S. Hamlin Avenue on September 28, 2019, 12pm-5pm  (Entrance is free, if you wish not to sample and vote)

UP is currently selling tickets for the mole tasting.

(Chicago, IL) – March 7, 2019 – Universidad Popular (UP) has announced that it will be holding the Fourteenth Annual Feria del Mole (Mole tasting and festival) at its headquarters at 2801 S. Hamlin Avenue. Tickets are $15 for the opportunity to taste as many moles as you can and vote on the “Best Mole in Little Village.”

In the Feria del Mole, participants will have the opportunity to sell their mole. The mole will be offered on a typical prepared dish, as it will be enjoyed at home, or in a mole paste that can be taken to be prepared at their own kitchen.

The Feria del Mole is an annual event that attracts over 2,000 to watch 20 women and men compete with their home-made recipes to be awarded the “Best Mole in Little Village.” Awards are based on majority votes. With admission, guests receive ballots to taste as many moles as they like, and vote for their favorite.  Besides the mole-tasting, the event includes music and performances by local artists, and sponsorship booths.

UP is currently accepting “molera” and “molero” applications – for adults and families who would like to compete for best mole. 

There will also be cash prizes for the three moles with the mayority of votes: $1500 for “First Best Mole,” $1,000 for “Second Best Mole,” for the “Third Best Mole,” $500.

Please contact Universidad Popular to buy tickets, request an application to compete for “Best Mole in Little Village,” or to request to sponsor La Feria del Mole.  The last day to submit an application or request sponsorship is September 16, 2019.

UP is also seeking sponsorship for the event.

Hamlin Ave, Chicago, IL. 60623  There is plenty of street parking available, we are also accessible through public transportation using the Pink Line (54/Cermak) to the Central Park stop and transferring to 82 (31/Lawndale) bus southbound and stopping at Lawndale and 28th St. walking 2 blocks west.
