You are now settling into 2024 and you have set goals and projections for yourself. Now the question is how are you prepared and planning to lead to meet your goals and to work with those around you? Join us for an intensive virtual workshop with Nory Angel, the President of the American Leadership Forum (ALF) in Houston, Texas. The three-hour workshop is an incredible opportunity to learn how to utilize adaptive leadership framework to craft and workshop your leadership challenges.  Participants will be presented with the adaptive leadership framework, be guided in creating a 2024 leadership statement; and break into small groups for a dynamic exchange with peers to gain perspective and to strengthen your adaptive leadership lens. 

At the conclusion of the 3-hour workshop, participants will have an understanding of the adaptive leadership framework, practiced the skill set of generative feedback, and will have created and workshopped their 2024 adaptive leadership challenge. 

Adaptive leadership is a leadership framework and approach that focuses on the ability of leaders to respond effectively to change and uncertainty. It was introduced by Ron Heifetz and Marty Linsky in the 1990s. Adaptive leadership is particularly relevant in today's fast-paced and dynamic environments where leaders and organizations face complex and unpredictable challenges. It requires leaders to be flexible, open to feedback, and willing to adjust their approaches as the situation evolves. It’s an excellent framework for challenging the status quo, deploying ourselves as leaders, and mobilizing communities to generate new possibilities. 

About Nory Angel:

Nory Angel is a nonprofit and community leader currently serving as the President of the American Leadership Forum (ALF).  ALF offers an executive leadership development program for the Houston-Galveston region’s top leaders. She is a proud ALF Senior Fellow and graduate of Class XXX. Nory is passionate about empowering people through leadership and driving social change. 

Her career has been devoted to workforce development, community impact, and supporting the growth and development of vulnerable members of our community.  

In her work at ALF, Nory launched the region’s first Leadership Hub, a space for leaders to practice leadership in community and to make progress on our society’s most challenging issues. Under her leadership, the organization has expanded beyond an executive leadership program to an organization focusing on building the leadership capacity of the region and activating its alumni network of more than 1700 Senior Fellows. 

Prior to ALF, Nory has served as the Executive Director of TEACH, an education-based, nonprofit organization co-founded by philanthropist Susan Sarofim and serving Houston’s public schools. 

Prior to her work at TEACH, she served as the long-term Executive Director & CEO of SERJobs where she led the organization to exponential growth including the successful completion of a $11.5 capital campaign, launching the nation’s first career café concept, and developing innovative workforce development programs that serve the needs of low-income youth, adults, returning citizens post incarceration, and elders. 

Nory holds an MBA from Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia, a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Texas, an Intensive French Certificate from L’Université de Toulon. She is also a graduate of Harvard Kennedy School’s Art & Practice of Adaptive Leadership, the National Hispana Leadership Institute, and the Bank of America Neighborhood Builder program.
