Note: This is a two day training course. Participants must attend both days in order to receive certificates and any continuing education credits.
Mental Health First Aid is an eight-hour training certification course that teaches participants a five-step action plan to assess a situation, select and implement interventions and secure appropriate care for the individual. The certification program introduces adults to risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, builds understanding of their impact and overviews common treatments.
Participants will receive MHFA Certificates upon completion of the course, as well as applicable continuing education credits. The MHFA course has been pre-approved by NCSAPPS for 8 training hours, including 6 general skill building and 2 substance abuse specific. The class also counts towards Peer Support Specialist certification hours.
The registration fee, which includes all training materials, must be paid in advance of the class at time of registration. There is a minimum sign-up of 6 people for the class to run. Registration is required and is nonrefundable, except in cases where the minimum class size has not been met or the training is cancelled for other reasons.
