🎻Join us for an intimate, cozy evening featuring a live string quartet playing all your favorite nostalgic tracks from My Neighbor Totoro, Ponyo, Kiki's Delivery Service, and more.

🚪Doors open at 6:30pm, performance begins at 7pm.

About Midori & Friends

Founded in 1992 by virtuoso violinist Midori, Midori & Friends brings tuition-free music education to NYC public school students with little or no access to the arts. The organization has partnered with over 70 schools and reached more than 330,000 students. This event is organized by the Midori & Friends Young Professionals Board, a group of young professionals who fundraise and champion music education across the city.

About the performers

✨Chandler Yu (Violin)
Chandler Yu is a classically trained violinist who has given solo recitals in Austria and across the US. Her performances in the past decade with festivals and orchestra tours have taken her around the world. During the day, she works as a project manager and in the evenings, she spends her time planning and playing concerts in NYC.

✨Rebecca Chung (Violin)
Rebecca is a senior at the Dalton School and a violinist who aims to spread the joy of music to audiences of all kinds. She loves Studio Ghibli’s soundtracks and has shared their music with her school community through the Asian Cultures Club. In her free time, she teaches kids in a STEM after school program.

✨Maria Ichizawa (Viola)
Maria sits in Morgan Stanley's Global Sustainability Office, helping to drive the firm's sustainability initiatives in Japan. A violist since age nine, she's carried her instrument from Paris to Tokyo to New York. The rice paddies from Studio Ghibli's Totoro always remind her of her childhood.

✨Sean Lee (Cello)
Sean Lee began his cello journey at the age of eight with Jonathan Koh. A former member of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra and an alumnus of the Meadowmount School of Music, Sean has performed on many of the world's most renowned stages, including Carnegie Hall, the Berliner Philharmonie, the Wiener Musikverein, and Davies Symphony Hall.
