Witness: dancing across boundaries traces the origins of a poetic performance work born from Sondra Loring's two-plus years of teaching yoga and dance to incarcerated men. What began as a collaboration with outside artists and those inside prison walls caught the attention of Skidmore College, which brought a film crew in to document the process—resulting in a feature documentary. The film follows the creation of Witness as the men and artists build trust, move through resistance, and create something none of them could have made alone, offering an intimate look at what becomes possible when creative expression crosses the boundaries of incarceration.
All proceeds from the event will benefit MovingPotential, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing trauma-informed yoga, movement and mindfulness to those impacted by justice and addiction.
