The blessed nights of Laylat-ul-Qadr are upon us. Before this pandemic, many women would join in worship at their local masajid, especially on the 27th Night of Ramadan. Due to social distancing restrictions, some masajid aren't accommodating women this year. That's why MWO's Sisterhood & Community Building team is excited to host a Laylat-ul-Qadr Women's Qiyam Gathering IN-PERSON WITH MASKS AND PHYSICAL DISTANCING. The prayer and dhikr will be led by Amany Shalaby and Farhana Yunus. Here's what you need to know:
RSVP REQUIRED: We only have capacity for 125 individuals, so reserve your spot soon! We will close registration once capacity is reached. No exceptions will be made, SO DO NOT DELAY!
LOCATION:
- Coco Key Hotel & Water Resort: PARAKEET HALL (7400 International Drive) in the BACK LEFT of the property.
- The hall can be directly accessed from door on the LEFT side of the building
- For easiest access, please park anywhere on the left side of the resort (BEFORE LOOPING AROUND BEHIND THE WATER PARK)
TIME/SCHEDULE:
- Doors open PROMPTLY AT 9:00 PM
- Worship will include: Salat-ul-Isha, Taraweeh, and Qiyam-ul-Layl
- We will have opportunities for dhikr and remembrance throughout the evening
IMPORTANT REQUESTS:
- WEAR A MASK...EVEN IF YOU HAVE BEEN VACCINATED. We want this to be a welcoming and safe space for women who may or may not have been vaccinated. ALL ATTENDEES ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK AND FOLLOW CDC DISTANCING GUIDELINES
- BRING YOUR OWN PRAYER RUG...this will allow for you to have your own space, and a clean surface upon which to pray
- DO NOT BRING FOOD...since it is an indoor space, and not all in attendance will be vaccinated, we will not be providing food during the event. There will be a water station, but if you do not feel comfortable using it, we encourage you to bring your water bottle
- THIS IS A WOMEN-ONLY EVENT...We want to ensure as many women as possible can attend, so we encourage you to arrange for chilldcare if you are able to do so. We also understand that as women you may find it difficult to arrange for childcare, in which case, your children are invited to worship with you, but you are responsible to ensure they are respectful of others and behave appropriately.
- We know this may be one of the first opportunities women have to gather as a community, but we want to remind you that we are there to worship, so no socializing during the prayer and dhikr times. After the qiyam is over, you will have some time to catch up with any friends who are there, but please remain mindful of the need to follow the safety guidelines throughout your time at the event.
Finally, RSVP is free, but we encourage you to make a donation to help cover the cost of the venue, and allow us to coordinate more events that bring Muslim women together. JazakAllah!
