Workshop #2: Assigning & Global Editing

Join the editors of n+1 for a series of free, informal workshops on magazine editing! In the second of four editorial workshops, we’ll discuss global editing and assigning pieces.

Created with n+1 intern alumni and our broader network of young authors and editors in mind, these workshops give participants unique insight into the daily editorial process of an established publication. Unlike conventional workshops, which solely center the revision of creative work, these sessions aim to offer participants an opportunity for professional development as editors.

Each of these 90-min. workshops will be led by n+1 editors—including Mark Krotov, Dayna Tortorici, Sarah Resnick, and Lisa Borst—and will spotlight one aspect of the editorial process, using textual examples to discuss the editorial history of a piece from submission through final publication.

All workshops are hybrid and can be attended in person or remotely, but please RSVP in advance either way as space is limited. For remote attendees, we’ll send around a Zoom link. For in-person attendees, we’ll be meeting at the n+1 office in Brooklyn (37 Greenpoint Ave., #316, off the Greenpoint Avenue G stop). We’ll provide pizza.

Accessibility: The n+1 office is wheelchair accessible and the Zoom session will have closed captioning enabled. Masks will not be required for in-person attendees, but we ask that all attendees keep the health and safety of fellow participants in mind. We encourage rapid-testing prior to the event. If you're feeling sick or are concerned about a recent exposure, please attend virtually instead.
