On Saturday, October 10, join us at the n+1 office in Brooklyn for a celebration of two new works of poetry: Laura Kolbe’s The Decadent Movement (out in September from University of Pittsburgh Press) and Patricia Lockwood’s Agate Head/Stone Soup (out in October from Penguin Books). Lockwood and Kolbe will read from and discuss their work, followed by a party.

About the speakers:

Laura Kolbe is a physician, medical ethicist, and writer. Her poems and essays have appeared in the Best American Poetry series and in American Poetry Review, The Baffler, Conjunctions, Harper’s, n+1, The Nation, The New York Review of Books, The New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, Poetry, The Yale Review, and elsewhere. Her first collection, Little Pharma (2021, University of Pittsburgh), won the Agnes Lynch Starrett Prize. Her chapbook Keeping House: Six Longer Love Poems (2025) was selected by Kwame Dawes as the Center for Book Arts annual contest winner. She teaches and practices medicine in New York City.

Patricia Lockwood is the bestselling author of the Booker Prize finalist and Dylan Thomas Prize-winning novel No One Is Talking About This, named one of the 10 Best Books of 2021 by The New York Times Book Review and one of The Atlantic’s Great American Novels of the past 100 years. Her other books include the memoir Priestdaddy, named one of the 10 Best Books of 2017 by The New York Times Book Review, the novel Will There Ever be Another You, and three poetry collections. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, The New Yorker, The New Republic, and the London Review of Books, where she is a contributing editor.
