In a city that treats its architectural highlights—and even some of its mediocrities!—with an ardor that verges on the obsessive, plenty of buildings nonetheless manage to escape collective reverence. A disproportionate number of these buildings happen to belong to the public: community spaces, senior centers, park bathrooms. On Friday, October 16, join n+1 and the Center for Architecture for a freewheeling discussion of some of the underloved and undernoticed civic monuments across New York’s architectural landscape. Look around! There are (municipal) cathedrals everywhere.

The event is part of the Center for Architecture’s Archtober programming. Entry is free, but RSVPs are required. The venue is wheelchair accessible.
