By National Accreta Foundation
The annual Accreta Awareness Virtual 5K is a week-long awareness event and fundraiser for National Accreta Foundation during Accreta Awareness Month. The event focuses attention on placenta accreta, one of the fastest growing life-threatening complications of pregnancy.
Lace up and get moving in your neighborhood or nearby parks — all while raising awareness of accreta and continuing your support of patients and families faced with accreta. You can run or walk the 3.1 miles or 5 kilometers, or do a combination of both, and participate at any time during the week of October 15.
Placenta accreta currently affects 1 in 272 births, putting the mom at risk of severe blood loss, preterm birth, hysterectomy, and other complications. Every mom deserves risk-appropriate obstetric care. Making this a reality requires increasing awareness of accreta, supporting and advocating for moms and babies, and connecting patients and providers with resources to help improve quality of care. Funds raised will support National Accreta Foundation's programs and efforts in these areas.
