Dr. Simone Viljoen, Ph.D. will present on: The impact of technology on adolescent development; Research on the effects of technological advances, which is growing exponentially, on social, emotional, and cognitive functioning of our youth; and the efficacy of mental health and legal service delivery though videoconferencing. These issues are particularly relevant during this COVID -19 public health crisis where courts and mental health providers have moved to utilizing videoconferencing in place of in person appearances or services.

Kameron D. Johnson will explore constitutional areas that may be implicated in juvenile proceedings conducted through remote, video sessions, as courts nationwide have moved to conduct juvenile proceedings via videoconferencing which implicate several constitutional rights in juvenile proceedings.
