Join NETWorks Cooperative Ministry’s GROWings! Growing • Feeding • Teaching program for a series of hands-on hydroponics classes designed to help you grow fresh food at home—from a simple beginner-friendly system to larger, more productive hydroponic setups.
Each two-hour class combines hydroponic fundamentals with hands-on learning and building. Choose the class that fits your interests and experience—or join us for more than one!
Kratky Method — November 21, 2026, 10 AM–noon
Go from hydro-curious to growing! Learn the basics of nutrient chemistry, pH and seed starting, then build your own simple passive hydroponic system. This beginner-friendly method is a great introduction to growing fresh greens without soil.
Bato Buckets (Dutch Buckets) — November 21, 2026, 1–3 PM
Take hydroponic growing to the next level by building a scalable Bato Bucket system ideal for larger vining crops such as tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers.
NFT Planting System — December 5, 2026, noon–2 PM
Build an NFT hydroponic trough designed for leafy greens and herbs while learning the principles behind this efficient, space-saving growing method.

Perfect for beginners, this two-hour hands-on workshop introduces you to the Kratky Method—a simple, passive “set-it-and-forget-it” way to grow fresh greens without soil.
You’ll learn:
- Hydroponic basics, including nutrient chemistry and pH
- How to start seeds for hydroponic growing
- How the Kratky Method works—no pumps or complicated equipment required
- How to assemble your own passive hydroponic growing system

Bato Buckets (Dutch Buckets) November 21
Grow big. Yield bigger. Build your own Bato Bucket system!
In this two-hour hands-on hydroponics class, you’ll learn the basics of growing without soil, including nutrient balance and water management, and then build a working Bato Bucket system.
You’ll learn how to:
- Assemble a scalable Bato Bucket growing system
- Install siphon elbows and set up proper drainage
- Set up a water pump, irrigation lines and automated feeding
- Grow larger vining crops such as tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers

NFT Planting System – December 5
Streamlined growing—build your own NFT hydroponic trough!
In this two-hour hands-on class, you’ll learn hydroponic basics and build an NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) growing system designed for efficient, space-saving production.
You’ll learn how to:
- Build a horizontal NFT growing trough for 8–10 plants
- Cut, seal and plumb your system
- Create a closed-loop nutrient and water system
- Grow leafy greens such as lettuce, chard, collards and kale, as well as fresh culinary herbs
