NOoSPHERE Arts Presents: Solstice Celebration
Time: Doors at 6:00 PM
Location: Rooftops at Kingsland Wildflowers, 520 Kingsland Ave., Brooklyn, NY
Join us on the rooftops for a solstice gathering where sound, movement, and light converge in celebration of art, nature, and collective presence under the open sky. This special event marks the debut of our 2025 Residency Award installation and the release of MaYita’s new concert experience and album: SOMOS.
MaYita Summer Solstice Medicine Music Concert: SOMOS Release
SOMOS is a sacred musical offering to honor the peak of the sun’s light. The MaYita Summer Solstice Medicine Music Concert is a heart-opening ceremony where ancestral rhythms, healing music, and sacred chants guide the community into deep remembrance and joyful celebration. Aligned with the energy of the solstice, MaYita channels prayers of light, unity, and transformation through her voice and presence, creating a portal for collective healing, connection, and renewal. This is more than a concert – it is a living ceremony of music, spirit, and soul.
Art Installations Unveiling
The 2025 NOoSPHERE Arts Residency Award at Kingsland Wildflowers Winner: Jeannie Rhyu
Project: Entanglement
Entanglement is a sculptural installation of eight ceramic eggs reimagined as subatomic particles in a chaotic cosmos, inspired by the quantum forces that guide migratory birds on their journeys. The eggs are painted with imagery interpreting the lifecycle and migration histories of four bird species from Newtown Creek—part-time residents of New York whose cross-generational round trips transport genetic memory and stored energy across borders.
Entangled Light is a sculptural installation composed of upcycled plexiglass forms suspended along the rooftop fencing, designed to refract sunlight by day and shimmer with solar-powered illumination by night. As the sun moves across the sky, the work gently shifts in color and form, inviting viewers into a quiet, ever-changing dance of light and motion.
Live Dance Performance
Performer: Mizuho Kappa
Mizuho Kappa will present a live dance performance centered on the embodiment of electrons as they move through the universe. Drawing from the concept of entropy—a measure of uncertainty or “mixedness” in a quantum system—the piece reflects on how information disperses, how order breaks down, and how connections persist even across distances. Entropy plays a crucial role in understanding quantum entanglement, a phenomenon where two or more particles become correlated in such a way that the state of one instantly reveals information about the other.
We meet.
We separate.
We mix.
Our states remain connected.
Through movement, Kappa offers a kinetic meditation on invisible forces, shared states, and the poetic chaos of entangled existence.
