Director/Creator Leora Morris and David Dorfman, Artistic Director and Founder of David Dorfman Dance, will be joined by their collaborators in a physical-textual-musical encounter rooted in exploration of personal histories, family archives, treasured books, and the irrepressible urge to dance. Through this multifaceted investigation they hope to arrive at answers to the question: What does it mean to be Jewish—for us, right now, at this precarious moment on the brink of history?

“What are we the continuation or culmination of? Who are all the bodies – past and future - alive inside our bodies? What is the legacy we’ve inherited, and what are we leaving behind?”

There will be a public sharing of their discoveries on Saturday, April 12, at 7:30 pm. As this is also the first night of Passover, the artists invite you to join them in an experimental riff on the traditional Jewish Seder. The Hebrew word “seder” can be roughly translated as “order,” so — while it may not resemble any seder you’ve ever attended before — you can expect an “ordering,” or a sequence of offerings that may include performance excerpts, conversations about the process and themes, readings of texts, and definitely some matzo ball soup! (Please note that the soup contains chicken stock.)

Note about Ticket Pricing

Ticketed events at NACL are an important base of support for our residency programs. The admission price to events contributes to our ability to provide residencies and public programs. That said, we never want concerns about money to keep people from participating. We have a long-standing Pay What You Can policy, for anyone for whom cost would be prohibitive. We’d like everyone to be able to join us regardless of financial situation.

Clicking "Show Additional Tickets" will display our reduced-rate online "Pay What You Can" option. If you wish to pay a different amount, you can opt to not reserve online and pay what you can at the door; however, for certain limited seating events we may not be able to guarantee seat availability.

If your financial outlook is bright, consider adding an additonal donation with your ticket purchase to help us continue to be able to cover the cost for those who can't.

THANK YOU for your support and your interest in this important work!
