NACL presents a work-in-progress presentation of Line Up by Kenneth Keng.
Line Up is a full-length play about immigration, colonialism and empire — specifically about how empires weaponize motherhood to drive the exploitation of women from poor nations.
In the very near future, a troop of Philippine mothers are recruited by an imperial power to serve as front line soldiers. If they can survive one year of military service, they and their families will be granted full citizenship and allowed to live within the relative safety and prosperity of that imperial power’s territory...
Kenneth Keng is a New York-based Filipino-Chinese playwright and performer who makes work about falling in love with a culture devouring his own.
Note about Ticket Pricing
Ticketed events at NACL are an important base of support for our residency programs. The admission price to events contributes to our ability to provide residencies and public programs. That said, we never want concerns about money to keep people from participating. We have a long-standing Pay What You Can policy, for anyone for whom cost would be prohibitive. We’d like everyone to be able to join us regardless of financial situation.
Our online options include the Standard Admission and a Reduced Rate. If you wish to pay a different amount, you can opt to not reserve online and pay what you can at the door.
If your financial outlook is bright, consider adding an additonal donation with your ticket purchase to help us continue to be able to cover the cost for those who can't.
THANK YOU for your support and your interest in this important work!
