OBJECTIVES

Describe the desired/achievable state: Health care and behavioral health professionals will be able to identify their own biases as well as organizational biases related to stigma in order to provide unbiased patient care for those experiencing SUD and mental health concerns.

Identified Gap: Well intended health care and support professionals recognizing and naming the bias before it is projected on the patient/client; redirecting supports and using tools to reframe in order to provide the best treatment and services to the patient/client.
Learning outcome(s) for this activity as a result of participating in the activity:
- 95% of attendees will identify two specific biases common for professionals working with patients/clients experiencing behavioral health and mental health-related symptoms.
- 95% of attendees will identify two tools to use as a way of mitigating personal and organizational bias when working with patients who experience SUD and mental health concerns.
