Join Orkestai Farm for an autumnal celebration in gratitude for the Abundance of the Land and the contributions of our Neurodiverse Farmers. The evening will include live music, a dance performance, collaborative community art, farm-fresh hors d'oeuvres, and drinks.

Contributions will help us continue to develop our winter programming, Overwintering, which will provide year-round consistency and meaningful engagement to our Neurodiverse Community.  In addition, you will be helping us develop the necessary land-based and social infrastructure to flourish during all seasons.

Orkestai Farm exists to promote creative participation in our community of people of All Abilities, including Autism and other Developmental Differences, through the practice of ecological agriculture and expressive arts.

Past performances include the Long Island Folk and Fiddle Festival and the Long Island Apple Festival, and for 9 years running, they have been featured performers at the Sea Cliff Beach Summer Music Series, Sea Cliff’s Sunset Serenade, Jerry Jam Festival, and they play frequently at many North Shore L.I. nightspots.https://www.instagram.com/therustystringband/?hl=en

Dance: Yin Mei Dance

Yin Mei has been choreographing and performing contemporary works worldwide since coming to the United States in 1985. She formed Yin Mei Dance in 1995. In Yin Mei’s vision, the company’s purpose is to touch people through performance—indeed, to offer work that goes beyond performance, offering and evoking a personal, even spiritual connection between performers and the audience.

Yin Mei sees her work as both traditional and experimental, drawing on classical sources while willing at the same time to subvert them. Employing Chinese energy direction and spatial principles as a means of creating dance within the rubric of contemporary dance theater, Yin Mei’s goal as a choreographer and performer is to make visible through dance the inner world that lies beneath the surface of everyday life—a parallel world beyond material purposes and goals, stemming from emptiness, filled with the mystery of life.

Community Art:

This year we will create a community mandala using found natural materials and flowers from the farm.  Our facilitators will be Kristin Orsini, somatic coach and mindfulness guide from Koha Space (https://kohaspace.com/home), and Erica Milone, Waldorf early childhood teacher and co-founder of Orkestai's summer farm experience for children.
