Creating a caring, just, and affirming world for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them. For thirty years and counting.

PFLAG Springfield/SWMO was founded 30 years ago, on November 13th, 1994. From an informal gathering at the Midtown Carnegie Library, to an organization of hundreds who lead with love to support families, educate allies, and advocate for just, equitable, and inclusive legislation and policies, our history has taken us a long way. We work every day to ensure LGBTQ+ people across Southwest Missouri -- and beyond -- are safe, celebrated, empowered and loved. We are ready to look towards our future with love, hope, and connection.

We all have a story to tell. Sharing stories with one another builds connection, empathy, and ultimately, community. A storytelling event is a gathering of people to both tell and listen to these stories. Our event will feature a diverse group of folks from our own community telling their experience. Think Moth Radio Hour, but specifically centering the stories that make up the LGBGTQ+ and ally community in Springfield and Southwest Missouri. We will strive to have as much diversity in identities for our storytellers as possible. Those who participate in the storytelling will gather before the event to receive training, guidance, and peer support. Dinner and nonalcoholic beverages will be provided, along with a cash bar. There will also be plenty of time for catching up with old friends and making new connections.
