When completed, the Cresheim Trail will extend from Valley Green, up the Cresheim Valley to Wyndmoor, and then along beautiful old railbeds to Fort Washington State Park. We’ll hike along several sections of the Trail in the Wissahickon, visiting and interpreting several of the sites of the many mills that once lined the creek. We’ll follow both modern maps showing the new sections of the Cresheim Trail, as well as Charles Ellet’s 1843 very detailed map Philadelphia which shows and names many of the mills that once lined most of the streams in the age of water power. We’ll conclude with an optional lunch at a local eatery.
