This Year, We're Golfing To Support Bayron Rojas Garcia.
Each year, Phillips Tee Off for Tots brings our community together not just for a day of golf, but to rally behind local families facing extraordinary medical challenges. As we mark our 39th Annual Outing, we are proud to stand with a remarkable young fighter — Bayron Rojas Garcia — and his devoted father, as they build a new life in our community while navigating a journey no child or family should have to face alone.
We Golf for Bayron and His Family
Bayron is a courageous 14-year-old from Haverstraw, New York, whose story is one of love, sacrifice, and resilience. At just two years old, Bayron contracted the Chikungunya virus in his native Dominican Republic, suffering high fevers and convulsions that would change the course of his young life. Without access to the medical care and schooling he needed, Bayron's health and development were profoundly impacted.
In 2024, his father Domingo made the life-changing decision to bring Bayron to the United States in search of the care and education his son deserved. Shortly after arriving, Bayron was hospitalized at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital and diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Today, Bayron is non-verbal, uses a wheelchair, and relies on his father for every aspect of daily living — from bathing and feeding to getting to and from school.
Now a 7th grader at the Jesse Kaplan School through North Rockland CSD and BOCES, Bayron is surrounded by educators and caregivers who are helping him grow in a supportive environment for the first time in his life. His father Domingo is his constant companion and fiercest advocate, visiting him daily throughout his months of rehabilitation at The Phoenix Center in Haskell, NJ — often paying for car services out of his own pocket to make sure Bayron was never alone, even when it meant falling behind on rent and bills.
Our support will help ease the extraordinary financial and emotional burdens this family carries every day, allowing Domingo to focus on what matters most: being there for his son.
Together, We Make a Difference.
Bayron's story reminds us why Tee Off for Tots is more than a golf outing — it's a chance for all of us to come together as a community and show a family new to our area that they are already part of something bigger. Every swing, every donation, and every act of kindness makes a lasting impact.
Thank you for opening your hearts to Bayron and his father. Your generosity helps make possible the moments that matter most.
