Over the past year, we have witnessed an explosion in the media regarding sexual assault and harassment allegations that have been made against high profile people in the entertainment industry as well as in politics. The courage and tenacity of the brave women and men who have spoken out about their abuse continues to give more and more survivors the mettle to voice their own experiences with sexual violence. In January of this year, advocates in the entertainment industry penned an open letter requesting that Grammy attendees and nominees wear white roses in support of "... workplaces free of sexual harassment and a heightened awareness of accountability ..." The white rose was chosen because "it stands for hope, peace, sympathy and resistance". The letter concluded with a powerful statement that has sparked our enthusiasm and inspired the theme of this year's Unmaskerade Ball:
"The world is listening"
Please join us for the 3rd Annual Unmaskerade Ball on March 30th, 2019. The evening will include music, heavy hor d'oeuvres, an open bar, a silent auction, and a live auction. Each attendee will receive a mask decorated in honor of a survivor of sexual violence. Black formal attire is encouraged.
