Recovery in the Texas Hill Country did not end when the floodwaters receded. The devastating floods changed lives in an instant. Homes were destroyed. Memories were washed away.

Entire communities were forever altered. Yet in the face of unimaginable loss, something extraordinary emerged. Neighbors became first responders. Restaurants became relief kitchens. Churches became shelters. Volunteers became family.

As the headlines faded, the need remained. Families are still rebuilding their homes. Seniors and people with disabilities are still waiting to feel safe again. Communities continue the long work of recovery, knowing that rebuilding is measured not in days or weeks, but in months and years.

The Long Road Home was created to honor that journey.

This evening is an invitation to remember those impacted, celebrate the resilience of the Texas Hill Country, and invest in the work that continues long after disasters leave the front page. Together, we honor the volunteers, businesses, and organizations that answered the call, including Methodist Healthcare Ministries, whose partnership is helping families recover with dignity, hope, and purpose.
