By Roots. Wounds. Words.: A Literary Arts Revolution for BIPOC Storytellers
To be determined
If we go back far enough, all of our Ancestors knew that we were each land spirits, not separate from the Earth, but intimately, deliciously of it. Then colonization and scientific materialism taught us differently. In this two day playshop we will work with the wild chaotic forces of the sacred elements — Air, Earth, Fire and Water — and the land where we each live to undomesticate our writing and ourselves. One of the etymological roots of wild is self-willed, true to essence. We will engage generative writing prompts, somatic body-based practices, visualizations and animist spiritual technologies to breathe the wilderness of our essential nature back into our writing. We will come back into conversation with the Earth that is always trying to sing truth through us and remind us who we are at the root.
