By Roots. Wounds. Words.: A Literary Arts Revolution for BIPOC Storytellers
To be determined
The Arc of the Romance Story will be conducted over two sessions, in which students will engage in critical analysis of romance fiction to learn the rules of the form and experiment with how they bend. Stories of longing, love, and desire form foundational threads in much of our storytelling and media; when done well these stories generate hope, joy, imagination and creativity. Romance, then, can become a place of healing. We'll look at and discuss examples of these transformational stories, both in traditional romance fiction and in literary work outside the genre. Students will leave with their own maps for writing a romance story and the first draft of a short fictional piece.
Thursdays, October 10 and 24, 2024 // 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. ET
This workshop is held online via Zoom. It will be recorded and available to participants for up to a month after its conclusion. You are welcome to sign up even if you can’t attend live to receive the recording.
