"The Flash and the Furious" is your fast lane to mastering the art of brevity and lyrical possibility. In this workshop, we’ll deconstruct the flash form, its arc turned acute angle, its reliance on conciseness, imagery, symbolism, and fire. We’ll look at the elements of craft that differentiate this short form from longer nonfiction forms. We’ll critically read some flash pieces together and use that as a grounding point for understanding what works well in shorter pieces. Finally, we’ll do some writing exercises to get you generating your own flash pieces.
